October Book Talk

                                        MOCKINGJAY

(The final book of the Hunger Games)

                                 By: Suzanne Collins

In this book the main character Katniss Everdeen is in a quarter quell where she is to survive with her fiancé Peeta Mellark (but not by choice) in the 75th hunger games. A quarter quell is the celebration for the capitol after the hunger games so it’s like another hunger games but with a new special arena and a plot twist. In this book there are many plot twists. I was so excited to finally get to read this book because I have read the first books on repeat. They are awesome. If you enjoy reading this series there are also movies to enjoy. You HAVE to read the first two books before this one. #1. Hunger Games , #2. Catching Fire. This book has so many unique but awesome characters. Katniss Everdeen is so brave and her biggest priority is to keep her friends and family safe from the capitols grasp because the capitol has a sort of hate for Katniss.  In my favorite part of this book Katniss is working with a secret district society and are helping district 8 patients in a hospital when they are unexpectedly bombed by the capitol the aftermath was sad because there were no survivors in the district 8 hospital and Katniss says this amazing quote to the capitol, “I want to tell the people that if you think for one second that the capitol will treat us fairly if there is a cease-fire, your deluding yourself. Because you know who they are and what they do. This is what they do! *shows the hospital destroyed* and we must fight back! President snow thinks he’s sending us a message? Well I have one for him. You can tourture us and bomb us and burn the districts to the ground, but do you see that? *shows burning capitol jets* fire is catching! And if we burn you burn with us!”  This quote reaches out to me because she is standing up for Panem and the districts and is joining a rebellion against the capitol which is risky because they have armies but she is only thinking about her people and what they stand for. She is their symbol of the rebellion against the capitol. That is the last book of the hunger games, the “Mockingjay”.
